Nabeya Maido was created in 2013 with the vision of a local boy named Kevin Suehiro who wanted to spread Aloha within his community through his love for Japanese foods. Being born and raised in Hawai'i, Kevin held a strong connection to his island roots and through he moved to Japan for 13 years, he came back inspired by the Japanese cuisine abroad and knew he wanted to spread ono grinds amongst his fellow locals back at home.
When thinking of a name for the shop, the one word that constantly came up was "Maido", a Kansai dialect that was slang for "Hi, Bye, & Thank You", just like how Aloha is used here in Hawai'i! Combining his local roots and his cultural background, Kevin created the name, Nabeya Maido.
After battling the COVID-19 pandemic, Nabeya Maido had undergone its biggest challenge yet and this resulted in what was once a dine-in restaurant to becoming fully take out with an original new product in the market, the MicrowavaBowl!
Realizing there was a need for high quality food and convenience, Kevin created the MicrowavaBowl, a delicious and easy way to enjoy Japanese hot pot inspired cusine at home. Made with high quality and fresh ingredients, MicrowavaBowls offer quick and easy meals with just 4 minutes in the microwave.
Nabeya Maido seeks to attain the pinnacle of high quality foods and ease of convenience for customers and we look forward to continuing spreading our MicrowavaBOWLS across the island and hopefully one day to the neighbor islands and beyond.
